Just in the past few days Braydon and I have noticed ourselves conversing with our bambinos. Like, real conversing. Actual conversation. Don't get me wrong, these are still for the most part toddler-esque conversations, but they are conversations nonetheless. And every once in a while a little back-and-forth occurs where-in-the-midst-of-it I find myself absolutely astounded by the fact that I'm actually having a conversation with my baby. I'm sure anyone who has ever parented a toddler can relate.
For this spring semester we've arranged for Alex (Fabulous Babysitter Numero Uno) to pick up K & O from daycare on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00 (right after their naps). She spends these two afternoons from 3-5:00 with the boys. Today Braydon took over from Alex at 5:00, and then I got home from work around 5:30. Braydon and Kyle left shortly after to go pick up a pizza for supper. Owen and I stayed home to prep the rest of the meal and set the table. As we were standing at the kitchen counter getting things organized the following actual conversation occurred --
Heather: I love you Owen!
Owen: I love you too Mommy!
[Hugs and snuggles, then we're back standing at the counter]
Owen: How was your day?
Heather: Good! How was your day?
Owen: Fun!
Heather: Fun! Why was it fun?
Owen: It was fun because I was so, so happy!
Heather: Happy! Why were yo so happy?
Owen: I was so, so happy because Alex was here!
