"We're Your Big Brothers..."

We found this scene yesterday. I almost jumped right in to yell at the boys for being up on the table (a big no no), but then we realized what was happening. First we watched with overflowing hearts. Then Braydon started snapping pictures. And I grabbed paper and pen so I wouldn't forget the exact quotes~~~

"We're your big brothers Baby Meera.
We're your big brothers.
If there's thunder and lightening we will take care of you.
If you're stuck we will save you.
We will take care of you your whole life.
If you're lost we will find you.
We love you Baby Meera.
We're your big brothers."

There's nothing like brothers who will be there for you no matter what! She'll always be protected!

Sabrina had a long talk with the boys about thunder and lightening, and it was clear that they (Owen in particular) were afraid of it. Their offer to protect Meera seems even more meaningful in light of that.

There is such a lump in my throat.

Gail -
Kyle and Owen (Owen especially) have been absolutely terrified of thunder since we've had them home. Once they started to be old enough to associate lightening with thunder (about age 2) they became terrified of lightening too. We've had many, many, many, many conversations with K & O (many of which have been in our bed with them terrified in the middle of thunder storms!) for the past 3 years. And many other people too --teachers, babysitters, etc.-- have had many conversations with them about thunder and lightening (as you can imagine their fear has been an "issue" at daycare/school/with their Nanny/etc.). They continue to be deeply afraid, but are getting better and better about it all the time. The night before this scene/ these photos/quotes we had a bad storm and both boys were in our bed with us terrified. That's some backdrop to this!

I am a lurker on your site, which I found through Multiracial Sky. I keep coming back to read it because it is so amazing to see the overwhelming love and compassion that just emanates from these boys. You and they and Meera are so lucky to have that to share. Your blog always makes me happy because of this. The goodness in the world.
