I just read the post you linked back to about instilling pride in your boys about their race, their heritage. I just want to say that, from what I see on here, you are doing an amazing job! AND, as a quasi-Haitian (no one even calls me "blan" anymore lol), I can tell you that it is even more important with Haitian born children. Edwidge Danticat wrote an amazing essay called "Nou Lèd, Men Nou La" (we're ugly, but we're here) and it truly shows how the beautiful people of this beautiful nation have come to believe what the world, in its ignorance, has projected onto them... So, keep telling your boys they are beautiful, keep growing their hair in traditional locks, keep giving them black books and black babies. Keep being the wonderful Mama you are!
Bondye beni Manman e Papa, e beni ti gason yo ki ou ap renmen chak jou!
Blessings,
L.

I love the photos, every little boy should have a baby doll.I adore the names of the babies, did K&O name them?

Thanks for all the positive comments about the baby dolls. Not *everyone* thinks that us encouraging our BOYS to play with DOLLS is a GOOD thing... so it is really affirming to hear positive comments here on the blog about it. Thanks y'all! Oh, and, yes... believe it or not... Owen and Kyle *did* indeed name the dolls (Douglas James and Donald) entirely completely 100% on their own. Who names their doll "Douglas James"??? and "Donald"???????? Yup, that's my kids -- strange but true. :) Heather

I love it, and I love that it looks as though your kids run around in there underwear too, sometimes I have to wonder if I am a little neglectful for all the underwear only wearing my son does. your boys have very cute personalities, and they are gorgeous.

I just went back and read the previous linked posts, I appreciate your book ideas, and I need to start making my list. I also appreciate your blog.

These guys are adorable! My boys push a pink baby carriage around with their babies. They take turns mowing the lawn and walking the babies, just like real men.
