PLEASE GIVE
Over the past 24 hours we have received many emails, phone calls, blog and Facebook comments, etc. from people all over the world who have thought of our family as they hear the devastating news about the earthquake in Haiti. We feel humbled that we have come to mind for so many. We are trying to wrap our minds around the situation in Haiti. We are trying to talk about it with Kyle and Owen. We are trying to understand what this all means for the people of Haiti, for the people we know working so selflessly there, and for those of us around the world with connections to a beloved -- and yet impossibly complicated -- place. There are no words for all that Haiti is and isn't. It is mind-numbing. And tonight, it is more mind-numbing than ever to try to grasp how this earthquake will impact such an already --in so many ways-- truly devastated place. Please~~ please~~ please~~ if the thought has entered your mind at all, please don't hesitate, please don't wait, please ACT NOW by giving, financially, whatever you can, to help Haiti. Many have asked us where to give. Over the course of the day today Braydon and I have thought about this, and talked about this, and done a bit of our own research on this, and we ask that you please consider giving whatever you can to an organization we trust, and to which we have chosen to donate for earthquake relief, Heartline. We know for sure that your money will go fully and wholly straight where it is needed. So, please, do two things:
1) Please CLICK HERE NOW and give, whatever you can.
2) Please link to this post, email this, Facebook this, blog this, Twitter this, and tell everyone you know about this to SPREAD THE WORD.

Thank you for the suggestion. I had been trying to figure out what would be the best place for a donation. Haiti deserves all the help that any of us can give.

No need to publish this comment, but I wanted you to know that we donated to Heartline. Thanks for the suggestion. You guys and Haiti are in our thoughts.

Heather and Braydon, Thank you for sharing.
Heartline is an amazing ministry and the money will be wisely spent. This is so heart crushing and I find myself praying a thinking about Jonas's Haiti family and I cannot even put faces and names to those prayers. I find myself constantly thinking about his mother and probable brothers and sisters. Just praying that they survived!!!!! This is just all so crazy!!!!!!!!
I will definitely donate here and pass your message on, Heather. Sending my love to you all, and especially Kyle and Owen...
Haiti is in my thoughts.

Dear Heather and family,
we have already donated to Heartline and a number of Germany-based organisations. It's a very difficult topic to discuss with the children, but we started talking to LĂ©ane and Davidson yesterday and - as it is with so many such topics - I am expecting quite a few questions from them over time. Haiti is VERY much at the forefront of their minds as we had just celebrated Haiti's national holiday for the first time this year (very traditionally with soupe joumou) and they loved hearing about their birth country and its very special history. When we talked about the earth quake yesterday and that we were sending money to Haiti they immediately went to their savings and plundered their little savings piggies!
Regards from Germany (with Haiti on our minds every minute of the day),
Alexandra
Thank you for this post. Your family was one of the first that came to my mind when I heard about the earthquake. Also, like others, I've been hoping you'd provide guidance on where to give. In some ways, your family is the leading authority and closest connection I have to Haiti.

Thanks for the suggestion. I donated to heartline today and put it on my Facebook status. I hope they get many responses.
I continue to pray for the people of Haiti, living there and abroad. It is unfathomable the despair that exists in this world. I pray that change will soon come.
I would also encourage those who would like to help the earthquate victims to donate to Wyclef Jean's nonprofit organization, Yele Haiti (www.yele.org) or text the word "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5.
one love.
Thank you for this information. It's so easy to feel paralyzed in this situation and so hard to know what to do that will really help. Hoping your message is heard by many, many people.
Done. Thank you for spreading the word.
